What’s Happening in The Hot? “Harvest Moon Festival”

There is a lot happening in “The Hot” this weekend.  The “Harvest Moon Festival” takes place on Saturday, September 21st. It is an all day event all over the county.
You can start at 9 AM at the Farmers’ Market downtown Hot Springs and end you day at 9 PM after enjoying “The Harvest Moon Barn Dance with D.J. Willie at Garth Newel Music Center.  Entertainment for the kids begins at 10AM and goes until 3PM when awards for the Hay Bale, Photo Contest and Name the Cook Book are presented.

From 12 until 5PM the Warm Springs Arts District Galleries in the village of Warn Springs will have artisan and fine arts on display as well as demonstrations.

Also from 12 until 4PM Hidden Valley will have a “Farm Tour”  See farm animals, milk Gussie the Goat, pick a pumpkin and see how butter, apple butter and cider are made.  There will be a free shuttle from the Farmers Market in Hot Springs to Hidden Valley beginning at 12 noon.

Over in Millboro BARC Electric Cooperative will be having their Expo beginning at 10AM. Lunch with live music begins at 11AM with a Safety Demonstration at 1PM.

Dinner at Garth Newel Music Center from 5 PM  until 6:30 PM and the proceeds will benefit “Relay for Life” .  The dance will follow.

The great thing is all of these activities are FREE!

And in your spare time on Saturday and for your Sunday drive you can tour the displays of “Hay Bails”.  I have pictures of a few of them here but the tour map (you can get it at the Farmers Market) will take you to 35 or more.  Your can also see them at the “county of bath facebook” page.
